Getting around Kyiv can sometimes be a pain. Road names are not always clearly marked, there’s few obvious bus stops, and there’s not many maps around town to help you out. Fortunately, however, somebody or other has seen fit to put a map up near where we live. Not quite in the centre, where it would have been more useful, but thanks anyway. Or rather, it would be thanks, if it wasn’t for one thing that makes this map virtually completely useless. When I say that they put the map up, I really do mean ‘up’:

Now how is anyone but Inspector Gadget supposed to read that?

Have you not heard of bi-noc-u-lars? Or a ladder for that matter? Honestly, kids today.
by using a great Russian invention, of course. Silly.
Or perhaps stilts?
You should write a letter to the local rag. 'Disgusted of Tynbrij Welz' (sorry, my exoticization of place names is pretty crummy).
ooh i love it. It's actually the sort of thing that they would do in ireland too, where we are brilliant at spending vast sums of money on things that don't work, such as the Dublin port tunnel which was intended for big trucks arriving at Dublin port to go through rather than clogging up city traffic...they build it..and then...doh, it's too narrow to fit the biggest trucks. very father ted, methinks.

They did something similar in Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow when I was a kid. Built a brand-new, very expensive school to relieve the overcrowded old one. but they only built it to take existing pupils. No-one thought of ringing around the local national schools and asking how many kids they might have in their last two years. Result: overcrowding from day 1.
